A new generation of AI-powered robots is being trained to perform human tasks. Boston Dynamics, a leading robotics company, has released a video showing its Atlas humanoid robot handling automotive assembly work.
In the demonstration, Atlas uses its hands and hydraulic-powered limbs to pick up a car strut and place it precisely. It then bolts the part into place. The robot navigates a warehouse, lifts heavy objects, and even performs a synchronized spin.
This shift represents a major change. Earlier versions of Atlas were known for complex parkour and dancing. Now, the focus is on practical, industrial applications. The company states the robot is all-electric and designed for real-world scenarios.
Experts note that while the technology is advancing rapidly, such robots are not yet ready for widespread deployment. The current goal is to create a platform that can be adapted for various dull, dirty, or dangerous jobs humans often avoid.
The development signals a future where humanoid robots could work alongside people in factories, construction sites, and disaster response.
