Billy Joel has returned to the stage for the first time since revealing a serious brain condition. The music icon made a surprise appearance in Florida on Saturday night.
Joel performed with a local cover band at a restaurant in Key West. He played three of his classic hits: "Big Shot," "Movin' Out," and "You May Be Right."
In May, the 75-year-old singer announced he was diagnosed with NPH. The initials stand for Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus. It is a brain disorder caused by fluid buildup. The condition forced him to cancel several upcoming concert dates.
His team stated the cancellations were a precaution. They said Joel needed time to adjust his treatment plan. Saturday's impromptu performance suggests a positive step in his recovery.
No new official tour dates have been announced.
