Venezuela's Supreme Court has named Vice President Delcy Rodríguez as acting president. This follows the arrest of President Nicolás Maduro by U.S. military forces in the capital, Caracas.
The court's Constitutional Chamber made the ruling. It stated Rodríguez will now hold all presidential powers to ensure the government continues to function.
The arrest operation and sudden transfer of power are expected to cause major international tension. The United Nations Security Council will hold an emergency meeting to address the crisis.
