U.S. military forces captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in a surprise operation early Saturday. The action follows months of pressure from the administration of President Donald Trump.
Maduro, 63, arrived at a U.S. military base Saturday evening. He was then transferred to New York City.
The leftist leader was flown by helicopter to Manhattan. A large contingent of law enforcement officials met him there.
The capture has drawn immediate condemnation from some international leaders. They question the operation's legality under international law.
