The Left group in the European Parliament is calling for an urgent plenary debate following U.S. military strikes inside Venezuela.
In a statement, the group condemned the action as "military aggression." It demanded that the European Union issue an immediate condemnation.
"We stand with the people of Venezuela against this attack," the group said.
The request pressures the EU to formally respond to the escalation. It highlights deep divisions among Western powers over how to address the situation in Venezuela.
A plenary debate would force all major EU political factions to publicly state their position on the U.S. operation.
