Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado has declared the country's "hour of freedom" has arrived. She made the statement following the United States' capture of Venezuela's President Nicolás Maduro.
Machado celebrated the development. She stated that Edmundo González Urrutia, the opposition's candidate in the 2024 presidential election, should now assume the presidency.
The capture marks a dramatic shift in Venezuela's long-running political crisis. Maduro had led the country since 2013, facing accusations of authoritarian rule from the U.S. and other nations.
