China's top anti-corruption agency detained a record 65 high-ranking officials in 2025. These senior figures, known as "tigers," were caught in President Xi Jinping's ongoing campaign.
The ruling Communist Party has vowed to intensify the fight. In a front-page editorial, the party's main newspaper, the People's Daily, called the efforts key to its long-term rule.
"A new year, a new journey begins," the editorial stated. It urged stricter internal discipline moving forward.
The campaign shows no sign of slowing. The record number of detentions signals a continued crackdown on corruption within the party's upper ranks.
