President Donald Trump, who returned to office pledging to be a "peace President," has launched military actions on two continents within a week.
U.S. forces carried out a major operation in Venezuela on Saturday. The Pentagon announced it captured the country's leftist leader, Nicolas Maduro, and removed him from the nation.
This follows a Christmas Day strike in Nigeria. President Trump stated that attack targeted jihadist fighters responsible for assaults on Christians.
The President has also issued a fresh warning to Iran. He stated that any hostile action from Iran would be met with a "disproportionate" U.S. response.
These simultaneous military engagements mark a sharp turn for an administration that began with promises to avoid foreign conflicts.
