Rising tennis player Yandy Shek Cheuk-ying won her first professional championship at a major Hong Kong tournament. She also helped raise money for charity during the event.
Shek was among over 1,700 entrants in the 77th CRC Open. The five-week tournament ended last month at the Chinese Recreation Club in Tai Hang.
Players participated in a charity initiative by hitting aces. An "ace" is a legal serve that the opponent cannot touch. Each ace hit during the competition generated donations for community causes.
The event combines high-level tennis with direct support for local charities. Shek's victory highlights the success of both athletic and charitable efforts at the long-running tournament.
