College Freshman Among Three Hikers Found Dead on California Peak

A 19-year-old college freshman has been identified as one of three hikers found dead on California's Mount Baldy. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said Marcus Alexander Muench Casanova of Seal Beach was discovered on a trail called the Devil's Backbone. Officials believe he fell about 500 feet. Rescue crews found the three bodies on Monday after severe winter conditions hit the mountain. The area had extreme ice and snow. The other two victims have not yet been publicly named. Authorities are still investigating the deaths. Mount Baldy is a popular but dangerous hiking destination near Los Angeles. It has claimed multiple lives in recent years.
