Finland has recorded its second-warmest year since measurements began, according to the country's meteorological institute.
The institute's data shows that average temperatures in 2025 were between 1 and 2 degrees Celsius above normal across most of the nation.
This continues a clear warming trend for the Nordic country, which is warming at roughly twice the global average rate. The record for the warmest year remains 2023.
Scientists link the rapid temperature rise primarily to human-caused climate change. The warming is especially pronounced in the Arctic region, which includes Finland's northern areas.
