Ukrainian border guards detained approximately 1,400 people attempting to cross illegally into Belarus last year.
The figure is part of a national total of more than 13,000 detentions for all border violations in 2025. This includes attempts to cross any of Ukraine's international borders without authorization.
The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reported the statistics. Officials did not provide specific details about the origins or intended destinations of those detained at the Belarusian frontier.
The Belarus-Ukraine border has seen increased security since 2022. The area is heavily mined and subject to special military control measures.
