Brazil's Supreme Court has rejected a request from former President Jair Bolsonaro to serve his prison sentence under house arrest.
The far-right leader's lawyers filed the emergency petition on Wednesday. They argued Bolsonaro faced a "real risk of a sudden worsening" in his health.
The court did not provide a reason for its decision. The ruling means Bolsonaro must remain in a conventional prison.
He is serving a 27-year sentence for his role in plotting a coup to overturn the 2022 election results.
