Hong Kong recorded its lowest temperature of the winter on Friday morning, with the mercury falling to 12.9 degrees Celsius.
The Hong Kong Observatory's first cold weather warning of the season was still in effect. The warning advises the public, especially the elderly and those with medical conditions, to take precautions against the cold.
Temperatures across the city ranged from 12 to 15 degrees in the early hours. The Observatory forecasts cool and dry weather with sunny periods for the day.
Friday is also the first working day of 2026. The cold snap follows a relatively mild December for the subtropical city.
