In a new interview, former President Donald Trump stated he underwent a CT scan, not an MRI, during an unexpected 2019 visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
The detail was shared in a conversation with The Wall Street Journal published Thursday. Trump did not specify the reason for the scan.
The visit, which the White House at the time called part of a routine check-up, had prompted public speculation. An MRI, or magnetic resonance imaging, provides detailed pictures of organs and tissues. A CT scan, or computed tomography scan, uses X-rays to create cross-sectional images.
Medical experts note the tests are for different purposes. A physician chooses based on the specific medical information needed.
