Boeing Ordered to Pay $28 Million to Widower in 737 MAX Crash Case
A U.S. court has ordered Boeing to pay $28.45 million to the widower of a victim from the 2019 Ethiopian Airlines crash. This case was the first civil lawsuit against the American aircraft manufacturer following the disaster.
The crash involved a 737 MAX 8 jet that departed from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, bound for Nairobi, Kenya. It occurred in March 2019, just months after another 737 MAX 8 operated by Indonesia's Lion Air crashed in October 2018.
Together, the two accidents resulted in the deaths of 346 people. Legal experts anticipate further settlements for the families of other victims from both crashes.
