Turkey has announced it will allow Chinese citizens to visit without a visa, but China has not offered the same privilege in return.
A presidential decree published in Turkey's Official Gazette grants visa exemption to Chinese passport holders for tourist and transit travel. The new rule takes effect on January 2, 2026. Chinese tourists will be allowed to stay in Turkey for up to 90 days without obtaining a visa beforehand.
The agreement is not mutual. Citizens of the Republic of Turkey must still get a visa to enter China.
The move is seen as an effort to attract more tourists and business travelers from China to boost Turkey's economy.
