Two Equatorial Guinea players have been suspended from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The disciplinary action was taken for verbally abusing a match official.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) did not name the players or state the length of their bans. The governing body also fined Burkina Faso captain Bertrand Traoré.
Traoré's fine was for comments he made after his team's final group stage match. The Aston Villa forward had criticized the refereeing in a post-match interview.
CAF has strict rules against disrespect toward officials. The swift punishments highlight its commitment to enforcing them during the continent's premier football tournament.
