Cupcake ATM Pioneer Sprinkles Shuts Down After Nearly 20 Years
The upscale cupcake chain Sprinkles is closing all of its remaining stores. Its founder, Candace Nelson, confirmed the permanent shutdown this week. Sprinkles first opened in Beverly Hills, California, in 2005. It helped start the modern gourmet cupcake trend. The brand became famous for launching the world's first cupcake ATM in 2012. This automated machine allowed customers to buy cupcakes day or night. Nelson did not give a specific reason for the closure. The company's last shops will serve their final cupcakes soon.
