New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs faces criminal charges for an incident in Massachusetts earlier this month.
Court documents show Diggs is charged with strangulation, assault and battery.
His attorney, David Meier, issued a statement denying the allegations. "Stefon Diggs categorically denies the allegations," Meier said. "He looks forward to establishing the truth in court."
The charges are serious. Strangulation is a felony offense in Massachusetts.
Diggs is a high-profile player recently traded to the Patriots. The team has not yet commented on the legal situation.
No court date has been publicly announced.
