Japan's First Female PM Demands More Toilets in Male-Dominated Parliament

Nearly 60 women lawmakers in Japan have petitioned for more toilets in the parliament building. The group includes Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
They say the current facilities do not match the increased number of women elected. While female representation grew in the last election, Japanese politics is still overwhelmingly male.
This imbalance is clear in the parliament's infrastructure. Currently, there is only one women's restroom with two stalls near the main chamber. The petition argues this is insufficient for the growing number of women MPs.
The action highlights a practical barrier for women in politics. It comes months after Takaichi became Japan's first female prime minister.
