Turkish police have detained 29 suspects in Istanbul in a major counter-terrorism operation. The operation is linked to an investigation into a recent ISIS attack that killed three police officers in Yalova.
Authorities launched simultaneous raids across the city. They targeted individuals accused of spreading ISIS propaganda on social media and active membership in the extremist group.
Police stated that 28 of those detained are suspected of producing and sharing propaganda for the terrorist organization online. One other suspect is alleged to have been involved in active operational duties for ISIS.
The operation demonstrates a continued crackdown on ISIS networks within Turkey. It follows the deadly attack on police in Yalova, which heightened security operations across the country.
