Massive Somalia Protests After Israel Recognizes Breakaway Region

Thousands of people protested across Somalia on Tuesday. They are angry that Israel has officially recognized Somaliland as an independent country. Somaliland declared independence from Somalia in 1991. However, no United Nations member state has recognized it until now. Somalia says Somaliland is part of its own territory. The Israeli move has caused major diplomatic tension. In other news, former heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua was in a car accident in Nigeria. Officials say a burst tire and high speed caused the crash. Joshua was taken to a hospital with minor injuries and is now safe. Meanwhile, Nigeria's government continues to investigate U.S. military actions last week. American forces conducted airstrikes on camps in northwest Nigeria.
