Allegations of Torture, Medical Neglect Mount in Turkish Prisons

A new report details worsening conditions for sick prisoners in several Turkish prisons. The report from the Antalya representation of the Lawyers for Freedom Association (ÖHD) focuses on facilities in Antalya, Manavgat, Burdur, and Alanya. It states that sick prisoners are being systematically denied access to hospital treatment. The report also says forced examinations in handcuffs have become common. Additionally, the use of solitary confinement is increasing. The lawyers' group emphasizes that all these practices coincide with a sharp rise in allegations of torture. The findings highlight growing concerns over prisoner treatment and human rights standards within the Turkish penal system.
