Major travel platform Trip.com now allows some international users to pay with cryptocurrency stablecoins. Customers in select regions can use USDT (Tether) and USDC (USD Coin) to book prepaid hotels and flights.
The option went live on October 9. It appears on Trip.com's international platform, according to a company agent. Stablecoins are digital tokens designed to have a stable value, typically pegged to the US dollar.
The Shanghai-based company's move signals growing acceptance of these digital assets in mainstream commerce. The feature is currently limited to specific overseas markets and for prepaid reservations only.
