Pro-Russian Hackers Target Danish Political Party Websites Before Elections

The websites of several Danish political parties became unavailable on Monday following cyberattacks. Pro-Russian hackers claimed responsibility for the distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, which occurred on the eve of Denmark's local and regional elections. The Danish Agency for Social Security confirmed it was aware of the incidents. In a statement, the agency said it was monitoring the situation alongside military intelligence. It described such DDoS attacks as being "part of the normal picture" of ongoing cyber activity. A DDoS attack overwhelms a website with traffic, causing it to slow down or crash. This prevents legitimate users from accessing the site. The attacks did not involve a breach or theft of sensitive data.
