BBC Chairman Vows to Fight Trump Defamation Threat

The dispute concerns an edited clip of a Trump speech broadcast in a Panorama programme. The BBC apologized for the edit, which it said created a "mistaken impression" of the January 6, 2021, address. The edit gave the false idea that Trump directly encouraged supporters to storm the US Capitol. Despite the apology, Trump has said he will proceed with a lawsuit. The BBC maintains its position that any legal challenge is without merit.
