Hollywood star George Clooney is now a French citizen. His wife, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, and their two children also received citizenship.
An official government decree confirmed the news on Monday. The document was seen by the AFP news agency.
The family owns a property in the southeastern French region of Provence. French law allows citizenship for those with strong local ties.
The Clooneys have not yet commented publicly. The move grants the family the right to live, work, and vote in France and the wider European Union.
