A shop owner who helped stop a deadly knife attack in Sydney says he acted to prevent more deaths. Ahmed al Ahmed was one of several people who confronted the attacker at a shopping center last Saturday.
Australian police have called his actions "brave." They said he and others helped contain the situation before police arrived.
The attacker, a 40-year-old man, killed six people and injured many others. Police later shot and killed him.
Al Ahmed described seeing the attacker with a knife. He said he saw the man trying to hurt innocent people. "I wanted to stop him," al Ahmed said. Authorities believe his intervention helped save lives.
