I am ready to defend pigeons to the end. These unfairly criticized birds deserve our respect.
People often dismiss them, but pigeons have played vital roles in human history. They were a key food source for our ancestors. More recently, they served as messengers for the United Kingdom during the Second World War.
To me, pigeons are working-class heroes. They are resilient and tireless. You can see it in their weary appearance. I know this view makes many people uncomfortable.
But I stand by it. It is time we gave pigeons the credit they are due.
