Settler attacks in the West Bank reached a record high in October, according to the United Nations. The UN recorded at least 264 attacks against Palestinians, the highest monthly total since it began tracking this data in 2006. The West Bank is home to 2.7 million Palestinians. The territory is central to their aspirations for an independent state. However, Israeli governments have continued to expand settlements there, which fragments the land.
