A major global accounting organization will no longer offer its professional exams remotely. It is making this change to fight a rise in cheating.
The decision follows recent scandals at major accounting firms, known as the "Big Four." New artificial intelligence (AI) tools have also made cheating easier. These tools can help people bypass online exam monitors, called invigilators.
All future exams will now be taken in person at approved test centers. The accounting body stated this is necessary to protect the integrity and value of its qualifications.
The move highlights a wider challenge for professional education. Industries are struggling to balance modern flexibility with old-fashioned security.
