A major storm has killed at least three people in Sweden as it swept across the Nordic region. The severe weather has also caused widespread power outages.
Thousands of homes in Finland, Sweden, and Norway are without electricity. High winds and heavy rain have damaged infrastructure, felling trees and power lines.
The storm, named *Gudrun* in Sweden, struck with particular force in the south and west of the country. Swedish authorities have reported extensive damage to property and forests.
Emergency services across the affected nations are responding to incidents. They have warned the public to avoid travel and stay indoors as the severe conditions continue.
