Kurti Wins Big: Kosovo's Political Deadlock May Finally End

Kosovo's Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, says he will quickly form a new government. His party, Vetevendosje, won about half of all votes in an election on Sunday. This result could end a political crisis that has lasted for a full year. During this time, Kosovo's parliament could not function properly. Important international funding was also delayed. This was the second election in Kosovo this year. In a February vote, Kurti's party did not win enough seats for a majority. Months of unsuccessful talks to build a coalition government followed. Because of this, President Vjosa Osmani dissolved parliament in November. She then called for the new, early election that was held this weekend.
