Train Derailment in Southern Mexico Kills 13, Injures Nearly 100

A passenger train derailment in southern Mexico has killed at least 13 people and injured dozens more.
The accident occurred on Sunday near the town of Nizanda in Oaxaca state. An Interoceanic Train carrying 250 people left the tracks. Officials said there were 241 passengers and nine crew members on board.
Rescue efforts are ongoing. Authorities report that 139 people are out of danger. However, 98 passengers were injured. Thirty-six of those injured required hospital treatment.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum stated that five of the hospitalized are in serious condition. The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
