A Syrian man who is blind and a double amputee is wheeling himself dozens of kilometers home after years of displacement.
Ibrahim Suleiman al-Ali is traveling from a camp in northwest Syria to his hometown of Shaizar, near Hama in central Syria. He lost his sight, had both legs amputated, and has limited use of his hands.
He is making the difficult journey in a wheelchair to fulfill a promise he made to himself. Al-Ali was displaced by the long-running Syrian conflict.
Pushing himself forward along the road, he is determined to return home despite his severe physical challenges. His journey highlights the enduring struggle of displaced civilians yearning to return after years of war.
