The European Union has condemned a deadly bombing at a mosque in Syria. The attack struck the place of worship in the city of Homs on Friday. In a statement on social media Saturday, the EU's top diplomat in Syria strongly criticized the act. Michael Unmacht, the EU mission's Chargé d'Affaires, called the bombing "disturbing and unacceptable." He specifically denounced the targeting of civilians and religious sites. Unmacht also expressed the European Union's solidarity with the Syrian people following the attack. Local authorities have described the explosion as a terrorist bombing.
