The United Nations peacekeeping force in Lebanon says one of its soldiers was wounded by Israeli shelling on Wednesday. The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) reported the incident near one of its positions in southern Lebanon. In a statement, UNIFIL called on Israel to stop what it described as "aggressive behavior." The injury occurred when "heavy machine gunfire from Israeli army positions" hit near a UN site, according to the force. The Blue Line, the UN-drawn boundary between Lebanon and Israel, was referenced as the firing's origin point. UNIFIL's primary mission is to monitor the ceasefire and maintain calm along this border. The force has repeatedly called for restraint from both sides amid ongoing exchanges of fire.
