Afghanistan is a "Graveyard" Now, Says First Female Vice-President

Afghanistan's first female vice-president says her country is now a "graveyard." Dr. Sima Samar says the world has lost interest in the Afghan people. Samar described the current situation under Taliban rule. She said there are fewer explosions, but called it "a graveyard kind of security." She explained, "The most peaceful place is the grave: there nobody protests." Samar spent her life working for a different Afghanistan. That country, she says, "no longer exists." Now living in exile, she still dreams of rebuilding her nation for a second time. She warns that history is repeating itself. The international community, she says, has moved on.
