Polish fighter jets intercepted a Russian reconnaissance aircraft flying near Poland's airspace on Friday, according to Polish military authorities.
The incident occurred in international airspace over the Baltic Sea. Poland's Armed Forces Operational Command stated its air defense systems were tracking the Russian plane the entire time.
Authorities confirmed the situation is being continuously monitored. Polish air defense forces remain on constant alert.
NATO member Poland, which shares a border with Ukraine, has increased its vigilance since Russia's full-scale invasion began. Such interceptions, where jets are sent to identify and escort unknown aircraft, are a standard procedure for border security.
