Hong Kong Fire Probe: 16th Arrest in Deadly Housing Blaze
Hong Kong police have made a 16th arrest in their investigation into last month's devastating Tai Po fire. A 48-year-old man was detained on suspicion of manslaughter. The fire broke out on November 26 at the Wang Fuk Court public housing estate. It spread rapidly across scaffolding and construction netting, engulfing seven of eight residential blocks. The blaze killed 161 people and displaced nearly 5,000 residents. It is one of Hong Kong's deadliest fires in decades. Police arrested the latest suspect in the Tin Shui Wai district. They identified him as the person responsible for the buildings' external wall work at the time of the fire. Fifteen other people were previously arrested in connection with the incident. The investigation into its cause continues.
