A Japanese tourist’s serious car accident in China led to an unexpected wave of local kindness, changing her view of the country.
The tourist, known online as @takomanmaru, shared her story on December 14. Her social media post has since been viewed over 1.9 million times.
She is a fan of Chinese singer Su Ruiqi. Inspired by the singer's love for takoyaki, a Japanese savory snack, she even opened a takoyaki shop in Osaka.
She recently traveled to Beijing to attend a concert. After the event, the taxi she was in collided with another vehicle.
The crash was severe. The tourist suffered neck and back injuries and could not move.
Local bystanders immediately rushed to help. They called an ambulance, contacted her hotel, and carefully supported her until medical workers arrived.
At the hospital, a stranger paid her medical deposit without hesitation. Her hotel manager later visited, bringing food and personal items.
"Everyone was so kind," she wrote. "This experience has completely changed my perception of China and Chinese people."
Her story has sparked widespread discussion online. Many Chinese netizens expressed pride, while Japanese commentators shared similar positive experiences in China.
