The head of Syria's state investment body met with executives from GE Vernova, a major U.S. energy company, to discuss potential investments and technology transfers.
Talal al-Hilali, Director-General of the Syrian Investment Authority, presented the country's investment law to the visiting delegation. He emphasized incentives for foreign firms and stated GE Vernova's business goals align with Syrian opportunities.
GE Vernova is the energy spin-off of American industrial giant General Electric. The company focuses on power generation and electrical grid technology.
The talks occur despite comprehensive U.S. sanctions on Syria. These sanctions severely restrict most American business dealings with the Syrian government.
