Brazil's Supreme Court has granted former President Jair Bolsonaro permission to leave prison for a medical procedure.
The court authorized a temporary release so Bolsonaro can undergo a hernia operation. The surgery is scheduled for December 25.
Bolsonaro is currently serving a sentence for fraud. He was convicted of using fake COVID-19 vaccination records.
The court's decision is strictly for medical purposes. He must return to prison after receiving treatment.
