Libyan Military Chief Among 8 Killed in Ankara Plane Crash

A private jet carrying Libya's top military commander crashed shortly after take-off from Ankara, Turkey, on Tuesday. All eight people on board were killed.
The Libyan delegation included General Khalifa Haftar, the army chief, four other officers, and three crew members. Libyan officials stated a technical malfunction caused the crash.
The group had been in Ankara for high-level defense talks. The meetings aimed to increase military cooperation between Turkey and Libya.
Libyan Prime Minister Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah confirmed General Haftar's death. The incident is a major blow to Libya's military leadership and its diplomatic relations with Turkey.
