China has offered to help Cambodia and Thailand restart negotiations over their long-running border dispute.
Beijing’s special envoy for Asian affairs, Deng Xijun, stated that China is willing to create the conditions for talks. He said the most urgent priority is for both sides to establish a ceasefire and resume dialogue.
Deng emphasized that the dispute should be resolved through peaceful means. The border area has seen periodic military clashes and tensions for decades.
China maintains close diplomatic ties with both Southeast Asian nations. This move positions Beijing as a potential mediator in the regional conflict.
