Judge Orders Trump: Explain Deportation Plan or Halt It

A federal judge has ordered the Trump administration to explain its plans for migrants sent to a remote camp. He gave officials 14 days to provide details. The order concerns migrants deported in March to the Centro de Operaciones de Control Temporal de la Frontera (CECOT). This is a temporary border operations center in Guatemala. Judge James Boasberg ruled the U.S. must ensure "due process" for these individuals. Due process is a legal guarantee of fair treatment. It means the migrants must have a real chance to seek asylum or other protections. The judge did not immediately stop the deportations. Instead, he demanded a plan. The administration must show how it will protect migrants' rights, whether they are in the U.S. or already at CECOT. If the government fails to provide an adequate plan, the judge could block the policy. The Justice Department has not yet commented on the ruling.
