A major new investment fund is targeting Kenya's technology sector. The United Arab Emirates has launched a $1 billion fund dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI) projects in the East African nation.
The announcement came during the recent G20 summit in South Africa. That meeting was itself historic, as the first G20 held in Africa. It also proceeded without the United States, after President Donald Trump cancelled his attendance.
The UAE fund aims to transform Kenya's economy. It will finance AI infrastructure, skills training, and business growth. Experts say such a large investment could position Kenya as a regional leader in advanced technology.
Kenyan officials have welcomed the partnership. They state the investment will create jobs and help modernize key industries like agriculture and finance.
