Sigg Prize Splits Award for First Time, Honors Two Artists
For the first time, Hong Kong's prestigious Sigg Prize has been shared. The 2025 award goes jointly to animator Wong Ping, from Hong Kong, and ceramic artist Heidi Lau, raised in Macau. M+, the museum that organizes the prize, announced the winners on December 16. The biennial award is named for noted collector Uli Sigg. Museum officials said the jury was "deeply impressed" by the artists' work. This led to the unprecedented decision to name two winners. The Sigg Prize celebrates important contemporary art from the Greater China region. Since its start in 2019, it had previously been given to a single artist.
