Indonesia has announced a breakthrough in trade talks with the United States. All major issues have been resolved, clearing the way for an agreement to be signed in late January.
The deal will end a period of uncertainty for Indonesia, Southeast Asia's largest economy. Officials from both countries have agreed on key points in the draft.
"The crucial issues are aligned, protecting our mutual interests," said Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto. He spoke on Tuesday after meeting with US Trade Representative Katherine Tai.
The agreement is expected to be finalized when Indonesian President-elect Prabowo Subianto visits the US next month. The signing would mark a significant step in economic relations between the two nations.
